Abstract
For the purpose of understanding the stress distribution in the sealing rubber and the metal component of the packer and optimization based on the analysis results, the structures are analyzed by using MARC nonlinear analysis software. The effect of main sizes on the results is obtained by changing the sizes and re-analyzing the structures. It is fitted by response surface method. An optimization model is established which takes the maximum principal stress of the sealing rubber and the maximum Mises stress of the metal component of the packer as synthesis objective. The model is subject to the constraints of the sizes. It is solved by using the quadratic programming method. The maximum principal stress of the optimized sealing rubber is only 32% of the original structures' one. The maximum Mises stress of the metal component and the sealing performance of the packer remain almost unchanging.
