In order to control the hydrolysis speed of titanate and decrease aglomeration as far as possible while preparing TiO2, the function of surfactant of dispersion and cladding was used. TiO2 nano-powder was prepared by hydrolyzing ethanol solution of Ti(OBu)4 with DBS surfactant in boiling water. The characteristics of TiO2 powder were studied by XRD,TEM and TG-DTA techniques. The results show that the surfactant plays a crucial role in the preparation of TiOr nano-powder. The phase structure of the nano-powder is anatase without calcination. In addition, the size of the powder prepared in acidic solution is bigger than in alkaline solution. The influences of the kind and amount of surfactant and pH on the preparation of TiOr nano-powder were also discussed.
