Analysis on Energy Savings in Ice Storage System by Design

    • Two kinds of ice storage system are introduced: series system and parallel system. Three means to save energy in the design of ice storage system, including secondary pump, variable speed pumps and by-pass valve, are discussed and compared by the simulation and calculation of an engineering case. The result indicates some conclusions. Series system adopting secondary pump has good ability of energy savings. By-pass valve is an economical and effective means of energy savings, since it only needs a small investment for a decent efficiency. Variable speed pumps have great ability of energy savings, especially to the pumps with big flux changing. Some other economical and effective means of energy savings are proposed at the end.
