Apperception and Design of the Verge-face

In order to analyze the verge-face characteristics of buildings influencing the apperception toward architecture and provide practical architectural pattern, the author analyzes and summarizes the recognition mode and basic features of such formal factors as the verge-face's conformation, color, sense of reality, etc. and the concept and function of related design elements to practical verge-face. Based on human apperception mode, the characteristics of practical verge-face can be outlined into four basic patterns. As viewed from the interinfluence between man and architectural environment, the author discusses the essential characteristics of the four patterns and their logic relations with dimensions. In conformation, three special solutions are put forward, and their concept, features and application conditions are exemplified and demonstrated. Finally, the article, by analyzing and reasoning the verge-face characteristics, concludes that the characteristics of the objective verge-face conformation is an inherent trigger to the viewer's mood.
