Abstract
Based on test data, five basic assumptions are put forward for the determination of the axial compressive strength of reinforced concrete circular section members under eccentric load. Strength formulas, which apply to both large and small eccentric loading conditions, are established by means of principles of force equilibrium and deformation compatibility. The formulas are further simplified with practical values of non-dimensional coefficients given to facilitate the design.
