Abstract
Polyvinyl alcohol fiber (vinylon fiber) was mixed with cementing material (cement, fly ash and volatilized silica), milled and dispersed for 40 minutes through ball-miller, and then mixed with fine aggregate (quartz sand) to get motar. The properties of motar were discussed according to relative standards of motar. The results show that the tensile strength and bending strength of motar with ball-milled fiber increase distinctively, especially for tensile strength with age (increased 40.8% for 90 d) while fluidity and compressive strength of the motar has a little change. So the cement with milled fiber can increase mechanics properties and has little effect on operation properties. SEM shows that milled fiber's surface become rough, so as to improve the grasp ability. The research hopes to provide a new method for fibers to mix in cement-matrix material. Fiberwould be mixed in milling process of cement manufacture and a kind of fiber-cement would be produced.
