Abstract
The experimental research is made to investigate the properties of the electrorheological fluid composed of starch and vacuum pump oil. To meet the needs of the applied facilities of mechatronics, a colophony derivative is used as an additive to diminish the sedimentation and enhance the activation of the electrorheological fluid in question. The results show that the electrorheological fluid is applicable in some engineering application due to its high stability, good electrorheological effect and minimum layer-built effect.
