An Analysis of Soil Nailings' Intension Against Shear and Moment

    • A real project has been simulated and analyzed with the FLAC-2D program. The analysis results show that the key factor of influencing on the transversal effect of soil nailing is the joint between face shield and soil nailing, and at the same time the changing rule of maximal shear and moment in the soil nailing with the destroy of the joint is also found out The good agreement between analytical results and in-situ experimental results show that numerical simulation is a feasible approach of qualitative analysis. On the basis of these analysises, the authors suggest that the strength against shear and moment the soil-nailings at the bottom of slope should be strengthen in design.
