Experimental Study on the Electrical Road Heating System for Snow Melting

    • In order to study the performance of electric cable road heating system, the author established an electric load heating apparatus to measure the temperature distribution and temperature ascending rules on the internal and upper surface of testing structures, and then investigated the power consumption and engineering application for electric heating cable paved on the asphalt and concrete roadway in Beijing. The results show that weather conditions (especially the temperature) are the main factors to influence the snow melting effect of electric heating cable. The range of power consumption per square meter from 250 W to 350 W can meet the requirement of melting snow and preventing freezing for roads and streets surface in Beijing.
