Advance of Transport Tunnel Engineering and Construction Technique in China

This paper focus on the current state, achievements and tendency of tunnel engineering and its construction technique in China. Some planning tunnels engineering projets in the beginning of 21st century were introduced. The characteristics of the super-long tunnels and some special tunnels were mentioned and basic conditions necessary to build these tunnels have been prsented. It will be necessary to increase the excavating speed, reduce building cost and improve environmental condition and safety technique for New Austria Tunneling Method. Tunnel boring machine and shielding machine, being of the advantages such as rapid construction, good shaping of tunnel section, less environmental effects and so on is a advance technique in the 21st century. The submerged tube tunneling method will be gradually used.
