Using Iron Tailing Minerals to Study Nucleated Glass of CaO-MgO-Al₂O₃-SiO₂

The authors developed nucleated glass of CaO-MgO-Al₂O₃-SiO₂ system by using the iron tailings of Beijing Miyun Mine as raw materials. With the help of such test ways as DTA, SEM, XRD, further research was done on this glass system to explore the effect of nucleation agents and heat treatment system on crystallization. Agglomeration technique was used and black nucleated glass sheet material with high mechanical performance was prepared. This material can substitute the natural stone effectively. So this study can not only provide a new use of iron tailings but also sove the problem of environment pollution and the waste of soil arisen from tailings.
