Abstract
A new compound cooling method is proposed to improve the IC engine performance. At part load condition the thermal loss of the engine is cut down with oil cooling; at heavy load condition the knock combustion is suppressed with internal water cooling. The stand-experiment shows that the fuel consumption reduces by 6~8 %. The road testing indicates that the fuel comsumption decreases by 8-10% for a car running at constant speed.
