Abstract
In this paper,the laws are investigated of the changes of retained austenite in quantity,morphology and substructure in the series of tempering process;and the effect of martensitic phase-hardening is considered to be the main cause of change of retained austenite substr-ucture.Furthermore,the laws of changes in hardness of the high-carbon M2 high speed steel in the series of tempering process are analysed too.
