Abstract
By means of inplant tests at different preheating temperatures, the cold cracking susceptibility in welding of superhigh strength steel was investigated. The results of metallographical examination and fracture analysis of specimens by SEM showed that this material is very susceptible to hydrogen induced cracking, liable to produce transgranular and intergranular fractures and secondary cracks. Preheating and suitable postheating can improve its weldability.
