Abstract
The restrained Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) wires, as actuators, are embedded off-centred in a composite beam. A mechanic model of the bending deformation of the composite cantilevered beam actuated by the SMA wires is presented. The static deformations of the beam actuated by the recorery force induced by SMA phase transformation in different heating stages are analysed and the theoretical predictions are validated with static experimentS. The experimental results are in good agreement with those from theorehcal analyses.
