    Car Following Model and Simulation Considering Front Traffic Situation

    • In order to describe car following behavior for multiple vehicle following in complex situation,a new car following model is presented by incorporating the effects of front traffic situation and improving the full velocity difference model.Traffic density is described as the key parameter of the front traffic condition.The stability condition of the model is obtained by using the linear stability theory.The term of acceleration disturbance is proposed to measure the stability of traffic and comfort of drivers.The results imply that the stability range of the improved model is obviously larger than previous models and the incorporating of traffic density makes car following behavior realistic and steady.
