Thermal Volume Control of 3D Temperature Field and Infrared Thermography in Tumor Microwave Hyperthermia

    • Inner 3D temperature field distribution of homogeneous phantom and thermal volume are studied when microwave radiation is modulated by sine signal during tumor hyperthermia. To get heating effect in tumor volume, sine signal modulated microwave is proposed to control temperature field distribution.Infrared thermography was applied to image temperature of 3D multi-layered homogeneous phantom,3D temperature field was then reconstructed by ray casting, and 3D relative thermal volume was measured. The heating effects of power and period of sine modulated microwave radiated phantom were analyzed and discussed.Resultsshow that sine modulated microwave may effectively control inner temperature distribution of phantom. The raised power or changed period in certain range make distinct heating effect and thermal volume in phantom. This provides preliminary basis for thermal volume control, survey and measurement of 3D temperature field in tumor hyperthermia.
