    Storage and Retrieval of Multimedia Data by Extended RDBMS

    • In order to solve the difficult problem of storage and retrieval resulted from complex image with large data, the extended relational database is used to storage and manage the image. Here the technical principle of storing and retrieving multimedia data using extended RDBMS is illustrated. The retrieval time between two data structures, B tree and list as the structure to store multimedia data, is analyzed and compared. The result is that B tree is better than list in retrieval time. Then, the implement technique in the database table design and image data explanation of a city landscape retrieval system is illustrated, and the authors also verified that using extended relational database management system to store and manage image data is effective and practicable.
