Gear Engagement Impact Analysis and Optimization Control of AMT Without Synchronizer for Electric Vehicles

    • Aiming at the gear engagement impact of automated mechanical transmission(AMT) without synchronizer for electric vehicles, a transmission model including the driving motor, the sleeve, the engagement gear, and the equivalent moment of inertia of electric vehicles was established in this paper, and the dynamic characteristics of the gear engagement process were analyzed. Theoretical and experimental analysis show that the position and axial velocity of the engagement sleeve in the first contact are the important factors affecting the impact of gear engagement. The gear engagement impact occurs on both the forward and reverse teeth. In order to achieve the goal of fast and low impact gear engagement, a gear engagement control strategy that can adapt to the initial contact position of the sleeve and the engagement gear was designed, and the results of verification experiment show that the gear engagement impact is effectively controlled.
