Numerical Analysis of Vibration Caused by Specimen Fracture of Structural Testing Machine

    • Environmental vibration caused by specimen's brittle failure leads to damage of the testing machine and auxiliary buildings, and also leads to discomfort of nearby staffs. Reasons and influencing factors of the vibration were studied through ABAQUS finite element simulation in this paper. The influence of specimen's brittle characteristics and size, stiffness of test machine and base weight of test machine were studied. Research shows that larger specimen size and greater applying load cause larger vibration response, increasing the testing machine's stiffness and the base weight reduces the vibration response. The study is valuable for design of structural testing machine.
