Abstract
Because it is hard to fabricate a rotating body shape model by the traditional fused deposition molding (FDM) equipment, a FDM 3D printer was designed, which moved in a cylindrical coordinate system. The forming principle and mechanical structure of this equipment borrowed from the traditional machine, and the motion based on cartesian coordinate system was changed to the motion based on cylindrical coordinate system. Compared to the traditional FDM printer, it can print more precisely and in some cases have a better speed under the same hardware situation.
