Experiment Study of Axial Compression Performance of Concrete Filled Steel Tube Short Column With Different Wall Thickness

    • In order to study the axial compression performance of concrete filled steel tubular with different wall thickness, 10 groups of concrete filled steel tube specimens were fabricated to conduct axial compression performance comparison experiment. The experimental results show that the nature of wall thickness effect of concrete filled steel tubular columns under axial compression is the confining pressure effect of the core concrete. The elastic ultimate bearing capacity of the specimen is linear with the wall thickness of the steel tube in the elastic deformation stage. In the stage of plastic deformation, and the plastic deformation modulus of concrete filled steel tube is linear with the wall thickness. The wall thickness is about 5 mm when the specimens presents ideal plastic state. Several typical axial compression bearing capacity calculation results show that European and Japanese standards can predict the elastic ultimate bearing capacity of concrete filled steel tubes with different wall thickness well.
