Abstract
To effectively simulate infrared image texture of large scale background scenery, a texture mapping method of infrared image based on the visible image was proposed. Referring to the gray range of visible image for the scenery, the relationship between the temperature and gray of the infrared image for the scenery can be calculated, which is based on the temperature and gray distribution of the infrared image at a time for the same scenery. By overlaying the temperature difference information onto the mean temperature at different times for the same scenery, and mapping the temperature distribution to the gray range referenced by the visible image, the infrared image texture was created at different times for the scenery. Moreover, the background images were considered to be composed of single component or mixed components. For the background image composed of single component, the infrared image texture was mapped by the proposed method. For the background image composed of mixed components, different components in the visible image corresponding to the background image was first segmented, and then the proposed method was adopted to map the background infrared image texture with mixed components. The simulation results show that the effectiveness of the proposed mapping method can provide an effective and convenient way of obtaining the infrared image fast and realistically.
