Effect Rule of Different Drill Speeds on the Wooden Micro-drill Resistance

    • To solve the problem that the test data cannot be compared due to the micro-drill resistance test device within different parameter setting, experiments were performed based on the characteristic that the IML resistograph can set the parameters in different drilling speeds and different feed speeds. The experiment conditions were designed in 5 types of drilling speeds and 5 types of feed speeds, and then they were paired each other, 25 types of experiment conditions were provided. The variation trend of rotation resistance, feed resistance and the scaling relation between them were discussed. The effect rule of drilling speed and feed speed on the micro-drill resistance were analyzed, and the dependent equations of them were obtained. Results show that in the same experiment condition, the ratio between the rotation resistance and feed resistance were in a fixed range. Both the rotation resistance and feed resistance were in an inverse proportional relationship to the drilling speed, and in a directly proportional relationship to the feed speed. The variation factor of them were almost consistent respectively. The rotation resistance could reflect the changing circumstance of drilling speed and feed speed in resistograph testing more accurately and more directly.
