Abstract
This paper aims to clarify the effects of different implanted types of artificial heart on microemboli movement in the aorta. Firstly,a patient-specific model of aorta derived from CT data of a clinical heart failure patient was reconstructed, and the two implanted types, including the aorta implantation( aortic root to aortic arch) and bypass implantation( apex to ascending aorta),were established based on this model. Secondly, the discrete phase theory and finite element method was combined to obtain the distribution of microemboli in the aorta under both implanted types. Finally, the relationship between the movements of microemboli in the aorta and the implanted types was clarified by statistical analysis. The results showed that 69. 43% and 86. 16% of microemboli reached the descending aorta under aorta implantation and bypass implantation, the particle trajectory was regularly for aorta implantation, but the particle trajectory disorganized. In conclusion, the different implant types of artificial heart may change the hemodynamics environment, and it maybe influence the movement of microemboli in the aorta.
