In order to solve the problems of the existing single-span multi-story concrete frame buildings that the structural system is unreasonable and the seismic capacity is poor, and so on,a typical singlespan multi-story concrete frame with energy dissipation and seismic reduction technique by using buckling-restrained braces( BRB) was strengthened. The technical conditions of the technique and the design flow of the strengthening scheme, and the technical applying conditions of the BRB reinforcement methods, etc. was summarized. Then a single-span teaching building was strengthed with the proposed technique of which the BRB was directly connected with the original frame, and the nonlinear pushover analysis and nonlinear time history analysis were made, and the joint seismic strengthening design was completed. It shows that the proposed correlative technique is practicable to strengthen single-span concrete buildings and able to achieve the requirements of higher seismic fortification goal.
