Abstract
This paper argues that the CCTV9 talk show Dialogue deserves the attention of linguists and EFL teachers in terms of spoken English research and teaching.From the perspective of discourse analysis,especially based on Duncan's descriptive framework of supportive responses,the paper examines in great detail the supportive feedback in talk shows,and finds that the talk show provides English learners with a rich source of conversational data and the study of them offers great insight into the great significance of English teachers' response to improve students' oral communicative competence.
