    • Based on data from the Fifth Census and a 2002 national survey of migration, this article comprehensively analyzes the migrants' citification and socioeconomic status attainment.The result is that rural-urban migration of Chinese population shows some specialties compared with that of other industrialized countries.Although have encountered institutional and social obstructions,the rural-urban migrants are attaining more or less upward social and economic mobility.
