    Parody: A Special Satirical Genre

    • Satire is one of the most important functions of parody,so parody is often used as a satire genre in the history of literature and art.Different from the satire in common sense, parody often achieves an indirect satirical purpose by means of appropriation or imitation of the source text and its manner. In periodic practice, the satirical edge of parody may point to the source text,to the social reality and to the both. The satirical function endows parody with a worldly character of social concern and criticism on reality, which is of positive significance to the performance of literary and social criticism of parody.
