Memories and Beijing's Cultural Identity: An Interpretation Toward Beijing-Style Novels of 1980s

    • Differing from Lao She's novels which present more various social and historic prospects and custom of the old Beijing,Beijing-style novels in the 1980 s configured the cultural identity of Beijing by repeating and over-simplifying memories. These Memories made from figures, figures' behavior, sites and plots have the high convergence. As an invented tradition, these memories are not the copy of the original history and the culture of the old Beijing delicately on purpose. Instead, they are aimed at responding to the crises of the city's and people's identities that arose after the Cultural Revolution and the modernization of Beijing.
