Comparison Between Yan Ji-dao and Nalan Xingde——on the Sense of Life in the Works of the Two Poets

Abstract
In Chinese history of poetic genre, Yan Jidao in Song Dynasty and Nalan Xingde in Qing Dynasty are both the poets of strong emotions, and, as a matter of fact, the latter had carried on the artistic style of creations from the former. In this article, a comparison is made between the two poets on their similar life experiences, intelligence, personalities, talents and values. In addition, the article also develops an analysis on their senses of life-a kind of anxious feeling about the nature of existence, expressed by their poetic description of dreamlands.
