Abstract
Based on genre analysis and from the perspective of communication purpose and rhetoric intent, this study explores postgraduate English academic writing capability construction in science and engineering universities. It uses Swales’ CRS (Create a Research Space) move-step mode to analyze the introduction section of academic papers in international periodicals. It establishes discourse structure chart of introduction section, reveals disciplinary features of the chart, generalizes micro writing style and sets up disciplinary writing format, which provides the theoretical base and practical experiences for English academic writing capability construction.
