Critique on the English Elitist Culture

In the past decades, cultural studies have become the most influential trends of thought in the western academic world, with the critique of elitist culture as one of its most important tendencies. According to the 'culture and society' tradition, this article traces back to the origin and development of the elitist culture and its antithesis against the popular culture. Through criticizing its worship of the minority faction culture and repelling of the majority culture the article reveals the ideological function of the elitist culture and its attempt to control the mass.
