Transition from Authoritarianism to Democracy: the PerspectiveAnalysis Based on the Southeast Asian Countries

    • After World WarⅡ,Southeast Asian countries took to the authoritarian politics after they failed to follow the western parliamentary democracy. However,in the late 1980s the democratic transition took place in the Southeast Asian countries. This paper illustrates the issue with the combination of history study and theory of political development and from the political, economic, cultural, international perspective as well as other factors, and makes a conclusion that authoritarian politics is a specific form of history.Though its democratic transition process is restricted by its self-restrictive factors, the democratization is an inevitable trend of the development of authoritarian politics.
