Abstract
One of the universal appeals portrayed by Alice Munro is happiness. The happiness in Munro's works is not people's pleasure after their desire is fulfilled, nor the satisfaction brought by the exterior things such as love or marriage, but the inner peace and satisfaction of the protagonists after experiencing hardships and reshaping their views on life. This essay analyzes religious philosophy, eastern philosophy and epiphany in Munro's works so as to explore their great significance for people's recapture of inner peace and happiness after so much agony.
