From Civil Society to Public Sphere:Self-antinomy and Self-salvation of Western Modernity

Civil society is not only a mark of modernity but also an important manifestation of its subjectivity/individuality principle.But dominated by the capital logic,civil society became a battlefield of private interests in capitalist society.Fortunately,public sphere which was born in civil society shows us the hope of self-salvation of modernity.Because in pursuit of publicity,public sphere can be seen as a mechanism or a system by which understandings or compromises between the nation and civil society or individual interests within the civil society will reach by free communication.Having the critic function,the public sphere can correct the extreme behavior of the nation or civil society;accordingly correct the self-antinomy of modernity.Thereby,it becomes the hope of self-salvation of western modernity in capitalist society.
