"Function+Loyalty":On Skopos Translation Theory

Abstract
Skopos theory,as the core of the German Functionalist translation theory, claims that the goal of translation determines the strategies of translation and then Christiane Nord added his " function + loyalty" principle, with its focus on the translator's loyalty to the source writer and translation readers. This principle remedies the radical functionalism, further complements Skopos theory, breaks through the restrictions of equivalence theory, and makes amendments for the traditional loyalty criterion, thus broadens the scope of translatability.More importantly,it claims that Skopos,as the optimal principle in translation,is of great significance to translation activities.
