"Resilient Social Governance Community": China's Social Governance Transformation Empowered by the Metaverse

The "social governance community" in the Chinese context is closely related to social integration and social connection in the sociological sense. Facing the risk society and the network society, the "social governance community" has been added the element of "social resilience" into it. This article has analyzed the technological foundation and practical driving force that the metaverse society will provide for the construction and development of a "resilient social governance community" in the following three aspects: technological foundation, social connectivity and impact resistance. That is, in the metaverse society, the rapid development of information technology will provide the technical foundation and practical driving force for the construction and development of the "resilient social governance community". The increasingly mature algorithmic governance with the government as the central role will solve various chaos caused by algorithmic governance under platform hegemony. The cohesion of multiple subjects and the connecting force brought by them will shape the spiritual core of social governance community. Strong self-organization and cooperation between multiple subjects will become a solid barrier against social risks. This article attempts to advance the field of social governance by facing up to the upcoming social impact of the metaverse and advocating for technological excellence, which is conducive to constructing a new pattern of social governance in China.
