The Mechanism and Pathways of Digital Economy Promoting the Rural Industries Rivitalization

The mechanisms of digital economy promoting the revitalization of rural industries can be summarized as follows: expanding production possibility frontier of rural industries and increasing the supply of products (services); alleviating information asymmetry and improving the quality and safety of products (services); saving production and transaction costs, reducing products (services) prices; stabilizing production expectations and smooth sales channels, optimizing the environment for rural industry development; spawning new industries, new formats and new models, expanding rural industry ecosystem. There are two main paths through which rural industries can be revitalized by digital economy. One is "Agriculture-Plus", which is based on the rural main industry, namely agriculture as the starting point. Empowered by the digital economy in before-, during- and after-production, agricultural production has made a qualitative leap, and the quality and efficiency of agriculture have been further improved. The other is "Digital-Plus", which is based on the digital economy to widely affect rural industries, extend the agricultural industry chain in the "vertical" way, promote the integration of agriculture and tourism, culture, education, health care, environmental protection in the "horizontal" way, and spawn new industries, formats and models in rural areas. It will promote the transformation of rural industries, realize industrial integration and urban-rural integration, and finally promote high-quality development of the rural economy and society. This paper further analyzes the current problems and obstacles in digital economy promoting rural industries revitalization, and puts forward some countermeasures and suggestions.
