Research on Undergraduates' Global Learning Experience, Global Competencies Development and Their Relationships

    • 6052 undergraduates' survey data of Xi'an Jiaotong University were applied to analyze the characteristics of undergraduates' global learning experiences and global competence development, and the correlation between them. The research showed as fellows: (1) The degree and level that the undergraduates engaged in global learning experiences is not high overall. (2) Undergraduates' backgrounds have different effects on their global learning experiences. (3)There is a positive correlation between undergraduates' overseas global learning experiences and their domestic global learning experiences. (4) Undergraduates' global competence has developed remarkably. (5)Undergraduates' backgrounds affect their global competence development. (6) Undergraduates' global learning experiences have a significant effect on their global competence development. Based on the research results above, some suggestions are put forward in optimizing undergraduates' global learning experiences and improving their global competence development. (1)Undergraduates shall be encouraged and supported to enrich their global learning experiences. (2) The structure of undergraduates' global learning experiences needs to be optimized. While enriching undergraduates' oversea global learning experiences, they should make full use of global learning resources at home. (3) Research shall be further carried out on how undergraduates' global learning experiences affect their global competence development. (4) The influence factors on undergraduates' global competence development shall be further explored to enhance the development level of their global competence.
