    Layered Image Coding Based on JPEG Standards and Human Visual Properties

    • 摘要: 图象通信已经取得了长足的进步,出现了图象编码的国际标准JPEG.但宽带网络ATM传输方式的发展,又给图象编码提出了新的问题.本文根据ATM网络的特点,与人眼的视觉特性,提出了分层编码主案,它既兼容于现有的JPEG标准,又适用于ATM网络.

       

      Abstract: The applications of digital imaging and visual communications have led to emergence of international standards for still images, known as JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group). The development of asynchronous transfer mode(ATM) wideband network technology and.human visual properties, however, gives rise in new froblems in image coding methods. This paper presents a layered image coding scheme based on ATM networks and human visual properties, which is compatible with JPEG baseline codes.
