Abstract: This article introduces the principle and method to emulate the 3D trace of laser processing by a simple example. With aniate software 3DS and AutoCAD to build a precise static model, the actual dynamic trace can be emulated by the use of the similarity between NC command of laser machining and operation of 3DS command. Based upon the resuls of the emulation, it is easy to find out the problems which are possibly met during actual processing.
