Abstract: An automatic input system for engineering drawings is presented in this paper. In this system,the general thinning method is improved using straightening techniques.In addition,techniques for recognizing thick lines,thin lines and arrows,based on the vectorization process,are introduced.The experimental results show that good quality graphic output is obtained,and an effective rate of recognition is achieved through the system.
