Abstract:
To determine the molecular arrangement in organic crystal, N, N', N″-tris (3-pyridyl) trimesic amide (TPTA) was synthesized by a typical condensation amidation reaction using trimesic acid, thionyl chloride, and 3-aminopyridine. The crystal and molecular structure of TPTA were characterized by
1H NMR, FT-IR, XRD and single-crystal X-ray diffraction method. It is found that TPTA crystal is trigonal with a space group of
P3. Crystal data for TPTA are
a = 1.400 48 (2) nm,
b = 1.400 48 (2) nm,
c = 0.848 98 (3) nm,
α = 90°,
β = 90°,
γ = 120°,
