Abstract: For the material selection in the process of mechanical design, knowledge of expert is quantified in expert system and the optimum selection of material can be realized through calculation and fuzzy decision. In this way, the overelaborate process of inference and decision is omitted, which increases the efficiency of the expert system for mechanical design.
