Abstract: This paper presents several types of braced vaults. In analyzing the internal stresses, partial differential equations are formulated by replacing the structure with an equivalent shell. Then the stress distribution of the real structure could be approximated by solving these shell equations. Under particular conditions, the structure is considered to be isotropic. That greatly simplifies the calculation.
