Abstract:
Push-over method couldn't reflect the higher modes' influence on high-rise structure. Based on some important factors, such as story weight, story stiffness, mode participation ratio, etc., this paper developed a simple fixed lateral force distribution model, which the effect of higher modes can be considered. In this paper, through fitting β spectrum for the third soil site, ten earthquake records were selected, and four moment-resisting steel frames were designed to analyze the push-over procedure and dynamic nonlinear time history procedure. Moreover, according to the index of story drift ratio, an improved fixed lateral force distribution was demonstrated.
