Abstract:
A new enhanced-configuration channel with longitudinal periodical rectangularfins on the top and bottom wall, was studied numerically to predict its turbulentcharacteristics of flow and heat transfer. In the numerical study,
K-ε turbulence modelwas adopted in the range of Reynolds numbers covering from 5×10
3 to 5×10
4. Andthe results from numerical study were compared with the result from relating experiments. The numerical results showed that the heat transfer coefficient of the new configurationcould reach 4 to 9-fold that of the smooth duct, while decreasing the aspect ratio ofthe height over the width of the duct is beneficial to the enhancement effect.
