Abstract:
Under the condition of adding warm mixing agents (i. e. Evotherm
TM and Sasobit
Ⓡ) , four kinds of specimens were formed respectively at temperatures of 135, 145, 155 and 165 ℃. These specimens were used to conduct test in order to determine compaction temperature's impact on the pavement performance of NovaChip Type C and to find out a reasonable range of compaction temperature.By analyzing of the test data, four main conclusions are made as follows. Firstly, compaction temperature has a significant influence on the high-temperature stability of NovaChip Type C. As the compaction temperature increases from 135 ℃ to 165 ℃, the high-temperature stability of the mixtures increases firstly and then begins to decrease after the peaks. Marshall Stability reaches the maximum at 155 ℃, and Dynamic Stability reaches the maximum at 145 ℃. Secondly, compaction temperature has no obvious influence on the moisture sensitivity of NovaChip Type C. As compaction temperature increases, the moisture sensitivity of the mixtures also increases firstly and then begins to decrease after the peaks. However, in general, its range only changes a little bit. Thirdly, as the compaction temperature increases, the low-temperature cracking resistance of NovaChip Type C decreases firstly and then begins to increase after the peaks, and its flexural-tensile failure strain of- 10 ℃ reaches a maximum at 165℃. Fourth, the reasonable compaction temperature range of NovaChip Type C is 135 ~ 145 ℃.
