Abstract: The multifrequency abnormal acoustooptic coupled wave equations are derived. Various linear and nonlijiear effects occurring in the multifrequency abnormal acoustooptic diffraction including diffraction efficiency, compression, cross modulation, and spurious intermodulation intensities etc. are studied. These effects are compared with the normal acoustooptic diffraction. The experimental measurements support the theoretical analyses.
